HF621 I am in full support of this bill. Citizens should not be left unprotected to drop off or pick up a child from school. It is no more unsafe for a law abiding citizen to have a firearm in their vehicle, in a school parking lot than it is in a gas station, Walmart or Dairy Queen parking lot. And if you are NOT a law abiding citizen, well, those "no guns allowed" signs mean nothing to you anyway. Thank you Rep. Windschitl and Rep. Stone for bringing this commonsense bill to the committee and hopefully to the floor for a positive vote.

Please vote no on HF284Libraries have played a vital role in our communities of fostering an educated and engaged citizenry and workforce. The services provided by our Libraries enhance life in Iowa communities, big and small.Organizations like the American Library Association bring not only resources, information on best practices, educational material and opportunity to Iowa libraries and staff, as well as grant monies. The enactment of HF284 would put libraries in a no win situation. Either they would lose potential grants and other resources from groups like the ALA or the Association of Small and Rural Libraries or forgo funding from the State of Iowa. In either scenario, this will result in diminished services in many libraries and frank closure of small and rural libraries. I do not believe that enactment of HF284 would strengthen or enhance the lives of your constituents and in fact might serve to diminish the quality of life in Iowa communities.
