This morning, your committee may consider HSB 106.It is the position of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) that states and school districts must exempt students who require smart devices to manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes. Whereas HSB 106 contains an exception for students who have an IEP or 504 plan that requires them to have access to their phone, not all students with diabetes or other medical conditions will have an IEP or a 504 plan.
