Reduction in force? Theyre already working with low staff levels and ridiculously low budgets. Way to show to really care about Iowa children.

Wasn't the Republican party the party of small government? Didn't they used to hate government over reach? Can you go back to that and leave people and schools alone? We have elected school boards that oversee our schools. They were elected by their constituents. Let them do their job. Stay out of public schools. All you want to do is kill them and force kids to attend Jesus school. Maybe you should attend Jesus school and learn about things like loving others. I am so sick of this state. My youngest graduates this year and I am thrilled to be done with Iowa education. I feel for my neighbors and their little kids. As much as I love them, I hope they do make that move to MN. Their kids will be much better off if they are educated somewhere else. You Republicans and your hatred for schools and students is so tiresome. Everyday it's another email and another comment about how awful your proposals are. Not that you listen. It's an exercise in futility. Congrats on another bill in your race to the bottom of states people want to live in!

This is absurd. Our schools are consistently understaffed as it is. The amount of situations this year alone where teachers who were not qualified for certain subjects had to fill in because they were unable to fill those positions have been ridiculous. AP classes were not available to my kids because they didnt have enough staff. There are kids who need extra help but we dont have enough associates to create enough spots for all kids to get the help we need. Any reductions would make this even worse!

Vote no on this. Why would you want to further hurt our public schools? There is a shortage on teachers. This would make it worse.

Please oppose this legislation. We already have school boards in place to do this job. We do not want big government. No one this bill!

Im against this legislation, please work on things that will improve the quality of life for the citizens of Iowa. You can start with why cancer rates are increasing. As a bonus figure out why Iowa is last in economic growth.

I strongly oppose House Study Bill 217. This bill, which mandates specific policies for reductions in force (RIF) in schools, is impractical and harmful to Iowa's education system. It disrupts schools, demoralizes administrators and educators educators, and harms students. I urge you to oppose it and support policies that empower local districts and prioritize studentcentered solutions. Stop the government overreach!
