Dear Education Committee My name is Jordan Zakery, Legislative Director for ExcelinEd in Action. Our organization works with state lawmakers and partner organizations to pass legislation that empowers families with educational opportunity, prepares students for college and career, prioritizes early literacy grounded in the science of reading, expands innovation and strengthens school performance. I am writing to express ExcelinEd in Actions support for HF445, which would modify the application window for student's first scholarship accounts allowing for students to apply twice a year and participate in the program midyear and at the beginning of the school year. This bill would support education opportunities for thousands of students, giving them the freedom to choose the educational environment that works best for them and, as a result, a better chance to succeed. HF445 would empower parents with educational freedom, giving families access to the schools, services and tools needed to meet their childrens learning needs. That means being able to access the Iowa's educational choice program during both semesters of the school year. We urge you to pass HF445 to ensure more families have access to highquality options that remove barriers and put the needs of students first. Thank you for considering this vital policy.
