I comment in support of this bill. This bill leaves local control in place for 362 days per year, but protects citizens' right to celebrate Independence Day and New Year's Eve with fireworks regardless of their city or county of residence. This is especially appropriate now with America's 250th anniversary celebration coming next year. It just seems unAmerican for some people to be unable to celebrate with fireworks ("illuminations," as John Adams called them), simply because they live on the wrong side of a city limit line somewhere.Besides, allowing a couple of days of usage concentrates that use into those days; cities with complete bans end up with more complaints and more disruptions to those who dislike fireworks because there's no incentive to limit usage to the proper days. This policy is a winwin for people who like fireworks and people who hate fireworks, and it strikes a reasonable balance between local control and protecting citizen freedoms. Please recommend this bill for passage.
