As a Mom of college age kids, whose in education, I'm in opposition of this bill.Stop trying to to waste time creating solutions in need of a problem that doesn't exist. This does nothing to help families improve the quality of their lives and their children's futures. This bill just creates another barrier for kids to finish their degree on time. Our kids are already required to take these types courses in high school and all college majors take some form of government & history for credit in a degree program. Stop trying to force your version of History and government on other people's kids. This is just a companion bill to create a intellectual freedom institution at U of I. I see right through it. The hypocricisy and irony isn't lost on me,when this bill is coming from the same majority party memebers who've spent mutiple sessions, falsey accusing public educators of grooming and teaching kids to hate their country.Stop using civics education as litmus test for kids to prove their worth as citizens and prove to you they're patriotic and love their country enough to your own personal standards. If you want to tell kids how to think and what to believe you can always resign and go join faculty at Moscow State University.
