Most objections to a Convention of State for these three subject matters are born out of fear. If President Trump is willing to be shot at to take on the tyranny of the federal government, Is it too heavy a burden for state leaders show a little courage to institute reforms needed to reinsert states rights and protect the freedoms of the citizens of their states? I urge you to support SJR2

Please vote No on SJR 2 which calls for an Article V convention to propose amendments to the United States Constitution. The proponents of SJR 2 contend that any amendments proposed by the convention would be limited to the three topics set forth in SJR 2. They also contend those limits would serve as guardrails to prevent any chance of a runaway convention. The proponents, however, are mistaken. By its very terms, Article V of the U.S. Constitution sets forth separate roles for the state legislatures and the convention. State legislatures have the authority to call for a convention, but it is only the participants in the convention who can propose constitutional amendments. A constitutional convention is an independent entity. It is not an extension of the state legislatures that called for it nor can it be controlled by them. Once a convention has been called, Article V imposes no limits on the types of constitutional amendments that can be proposed. Please reject SJR 2.
