Re: No on HF 66. Amend to Permanent Standard Time.Dear Representatives Bossman, Cooling, and Smith,Please oppose HF 66 (Wills), as referred to House State Government. A complete statement in PDF format from my nonprofit is attached.Daylight Saving Time (fast time) is a mandate to wake an hour earlier than Standard Time (natural time), every day, against circadian rhythms. Permanent DST would put Iowa sunrise past 8am (when most work/school starts) for 34 months, to nearly 9am. Farmers, schoolchildren, commuters, and service personnel need morning sunlight most. When permanent DST was last tried, its chronic sleep deprivation costs lives and business, and Iowans successfully fought Congress to repeal it. This is why its federally prohibited. Please amend to permanent Standard Time. This is the quickest, healthiest, safest, fairest, most economical, and most lasting way to end disruptive and deadly clock changes, as supported by history, science, first principles, and federal law. More states are now seeking permanent Standard Time than permanent DST. North Dakota and Utah committees just days ago approved bills for permanent Standard Time.Sincerely,Jay PeaPresidentSave Standard Time501(c)(4) Nonprofit 863372799PO Box 18170, Fountain Hills AZ 85269PS: I was born and raised in rural Iowa.
