I am OPPOSED to this bill. It creates more opportunities our health data to be shared with more entities which in turn, creates more opportunities to have our health data hacked or compromised. While I appreciate the optout provision, most Iowans won't take the extra steps to optout. If anything, it should be an optin system.

I oppose this legislation HSB623We need to have our private personal medical information protected. We should instead be required to opt in AFTER informed consent is fully provided to any sort of reporting and data mining/data sharing of our personal medical information and records.

I OPPOSE this bill, as it is yet another opportunity for my health information to be hacked. Over the last month, TWO Iowa health organizations (Mercy & DMOS) have notified their patients of data breaches of their healthcare information. Why would you create a single point of contact database to just make it easier for hackers?
