I wholeheartedly agree with this bill. Connecting election equipment to the internet before, during or after an election poses too much risk of someone programming the device in a way to sway an election, changing votes or changing ballot counting totals. It may be convenient to connect to the internet to perform software updates, copy voter registration files, etc. but the risk is not worth the convenience. There are other ways to download software and / or data that do not require a live connection. Prohibiting this Internet connection is especially important in light of the lack of transparency of the election vendors in letting election officials and the public know what is going on inside these machines!

I concur with Mr. Bayer's comments. Our election equipment should be barebones, lowlevel technology that simply scans our paper ballots and counts them. It should never be connected to the internet nor have the capability to do so. We cannot simply trust that people will do the right thing when it comes to elections. We must actively put safeguards into place to ensure that we have secure and accurate results.I also think that Representative Sandy Salmon's ideas about having ballots printed on special paper that has serial numbers or other watermarks to prevent counterfeits is a FANTASTIC idea. I hope you'll work that into the bill too. Thank you for reading my comment at the meeting.

My remarks, in regards to HF2025, stem from my personal and intimate involvement in the election process for some 40 years. My grave concern comes from a very simple fact: the continuation of our Constitutional Republic depends not only upon free and fair elections, but just as importantly, the People's trust in the results of those elections. We MUST be able to guarantee the legitimacy and accuracy of the results of any election, and that means there can be NO interconnection with the Internet; whether that connection be wireless or hard wiring.Sincerely,Loras Schulte

I support this bill. We need to be able to have implicit confidence in the election process. Voting machines should never be connected to the internet or any outside entity. The machine should simply tabulate the ballots entered.

I completely support this bill HF 2025. As Iowan's we have the opportunity to be a shinning examples of Midwestern values, with the highest of integrity. If we have the opportunity to help "We The People" gain back confidence in one of our most important constitutional rights voting and the election process, it is your duty to pass this bill. This is a example of our Elected Representatives listening to Iowan's. Thank you! Support HF 2025

Just because it might be easier and quicker, doesnt mean its better. Voting machines shouldnt be accessed by the internet. Lets keep election integrity in Iowa.

Couldnt support this bill more! We need as much election integrity as we can get and this bill will help to get us further to that goal.

I support this bill. We must ensure the integrity of our elections, and that requires eliminating any possible means of corrupt interruption in our voting system. The internet is not secure.

It is preposterous to purpose that voting be connected to the internet. What is the primary avenue for identity theft and scammers? Voting should be an elementary process requiring photo identification or maybe we have to move to fingerprints at this point in time. Vetted polling officers are needed with simple counting procedures to certify that election results truly do represent the will of the people and are not the product of fraudulent manufactured ballots.

There has been far too much doubt regarding recent elections. Taking out the variable of having the internet connected seems like a good idea. That way there isn't an option to hacking through the internet.

I have been a precinct election official for 7 years. I feel that the epoll books should also be covered by this bill. There are other ways to insure that someone does not vote more than once. The epoll books do not need to be connected t the internet to prevent duplicate voting. If someone requests an absentee ballot or votes early, that information is contained in the epoll book and they cannot vote inperson on election day without surrendering their ballot. If they do not have the ballot with them, we in Black Hawk County call the elections office to ascertain whether their absentee ballot has been received. If not, the voter's absentee ballot request is canceled and the voter is allowed to vote a regular ballot at the polls.

I am in total support of this bill. Introducing internet access introduces too much risk to the integrity of the election process.
