Iowa's young people deserve the right to know about HPV and the cancer preventing vaccine that is available to protect themselves. This vaccination is long lasting and can protect young people from cancers and fertility problems. Why wouldn't we educate them about this? According to the CDC, HPV vaccination would prevent 90% of cancers from developing. The timeframe for education while students are in school is critical since young people tend to contract HPV between the ages of 1525. Please do not put Iowa's young people in danger by advancing this bill.

HPV is a leading cause of head and neck cancers, also known as oropharyngeal cancers. The HPV vaccine has been shown to prevent the types of HPV infections that causes these cancers. As a clinical dental hygienist who screens patients for oral cancers, and has lost patients from HPV related oropharyngeal cancer, it is a sincere disservice and seems criminal to withhold this education to parents and students. The HPV vaccine is a medical intervention that has been shown to prevent future oral cancers and literally save lives. The incidence of oropharyngeal cancers in Iowa has been steadily rising for the past 20 years. It is time for the stigma surround the HPV vaccine to end and it should be seen as the life saving and cancer preventing measure that it is for both men and women.

The decision about whether a child needs the HPV vaccine which protects against a sexually transmitted infection should be left to parents. This is not a discussion for the classroom, and the classroom should not be used as a target demographic for Merck. Another serious concern is that the clinical trial for this vaccine was not controlled against an inert placebo such as a sugar pill, so the claim that it is safe is only a claim that its as safe as whatever adjuvants were used in the socalled placebo pills. Unfortunately, this is a common practice in vaccine trials and misleading. So its not surprising there have been 424 adverse events reported in Iowa, 10 permanent disabilities, and 1 death. This is not a vaccine that should be promoted in schools, especially when someone that doesnt need it, could take it, and become vaccine injured.

I am against the changes proposed in HF 187. It is important to make sure that adolescents are aware that HPV vaccines that are available. It would not be in the best interests of individuals' health, nor the wellbeing of the state, to remove the mention of HPV vaccines. In my opinion, HF 187 should not advance as it could undermine the health of Iowa's youth.

I am in favor of HF187. This information is available through your doctor. The school does not need to be involved unless they want to send home information that students can discuss with their parents, otherwise this issue should not involve discussions between students and school staff.

The HPV vaccine is a cancer prevention vaccine. Early protection works best. Thats why HPV vaccine is recommended earlier rather than later. It protects your child long before they ever have contact with the virus. HPV infections and cervical precancers (abnormal cells on the cervix that can lead to cancer) have dropped since 2006, when HPV vaccines were first used in the United States. Among teen girls, infections with HPV types that cause most HPV cancers and genital warts have dropped 88 percent. Among young adult women, infections with HPV types that cause most HPV cancers and genital warts have dropped 81 percent. Among vaccinated women, the percentage of cervical precancers caused by the HPV types most often linked to cervical cancer has dropped by 40 percent.Source: https://www.cdc.gov/hpv/parents/vaccineforhpv.html

The Cleveland clinic along with other reputable health research organizations and clinics, says the HPV virus clears from most healthy individuals in one to two years and its a benign virus. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/doeshpvgoaway/There is currently a nationwide class action lawsuit for the HPV vaccine due to its very harmful side effects including infertility, paralysis and sadly even death as was the case for my friends son, Christopher, who passed in August 2018 at the University of Iowa 3 weeks after he was given the HPV vaccine. You can read about his case here at this attached study, that was published following his injury from the HPV vaccine. Class action HPV vaccine lawsuit: https://www.classaction.org/gardasilThere are over 58,000 reports of HPV vaccine injury on the Vaccine adverse event reporting system, including 430 deaths and 794 hospitalizations, as well as 2,773 disabling conditions: https://www.nvic.org/diseasevaccine/hpvThe HPV vaccine does not prevent infection of the HPV virus nor does it prevent cancer as has been claimed by the lobbyist from Iowa Public health Association. That is a bold face lie and marketing slogan by the unaccountable pHARMa industry which conveniently has NO liability for their vaccine when it harms or kills a patient due to the NCVIA of 1986. https://www.congress.gov/bill/99thcongress/housebill/5546 Wouldnt all industries like to have that same business model all profit and no liability? That terrible law allows the vaccine industry to operate without any incentive to make sure their products are safe or effective. Because of this we see millions of children suffer permanent and in some cases deadly injuries from their unsafe products. Do their lives not matter?Iowa schools and teachers are not licensed to practice medicine or to offer medical advice. They should therefore not be giving instruction to students or advertising and promoting information to students about medical procedures and products, including the unsafe HPV vaccine.Parents are the experts on their children and these private and personal health and medical conversations should be between parents and their children and their medical providers. While we are at it, we should take a hard look at why Iowa, is allowing the most corrupt industry on the planet big pHARMa, which by the way has paid the largest fines in US history for fraud according to the DOJ, to market directly to Iowans via media, we are one of only two countries that allow that.Fraud fine history: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justicedepartmentannounceslargesthealthcarefraudsettlementitshistoryPlease protect Iowa childrens from big pHARMas greed.

Medical decisions should be between a parent, child and their healthcare provider. Healthcare providers all over the USA inform their patients when they reach the age that this medical intervention is available to them. This is not the role of the school system.Informed Consent is at the heart of all medical decisions. This is important, especially with a liabilityfree product such as the HPV vaccine. Schools and teachers are not equipped to provide medical advice, either pro or con a particular medical intervention.Informed Consent would include: GARDASIL 9 has not been evaluated for the potential to cause carcinogenicity, genotoxicity or impairment of male fertility.MERCK suggests the following side effects may be seen which may or may not have a causal relationship to the HPV Vaccine:o Blood and lymphatic system disorders: Autoimmune hemolytic anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, lymphadenopathy. Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Pulmonary embolus. o Gastrointestinal disorders: Nausea, pancreatitis, vomiting. o General disorders and administration site conditions: Asthenia, chills, death, fatigue, malaise. o Immune system disorders: Autoimmune diseases, hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylactic/anaphylactoid reactions, bronchospasm, and urticaria. o Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders: Arthralgia, myalgia. Nervous system disorders: Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, dizziness, GuillainBarr syndrome, headache, motor neuron disease, paralysis, seizures, syncope (including syncope associated with tonic 10 clonic movements and other seizurelike activity) sometimes resulting in falling with injury, transverse myelitis (a poliolike illness). o Infections and infestations: Cellulitis. Vascular disorders: Deep venous thrombosis.Ref: https://immunizationinfo.com/wpcontent/uploads/Gardasil9PrescribingInformation.pdfWhile some of these are not serious injuries, others are quite serious.Informed Consent would also include that the child/youth could still get cancer as this vaccine only addresses 9 of the 14 highrisk strains of HPV and they should still get regular cancer screenings according to the manufacturer. Again, it is imperative that the dissemination of information about the HPV vaccine be between a health care provider and their patient or patient's guardian. Healthcare providers are much more equipped to provide full informed consent and assess the underlying risk factors for each child. There is no lack of knowledge about this vaccine's availability. Removing the burden and the liability of discussing a pharmaceutical product, without being a healthcare provider and giving full informed consent, from our schools is prudent. We support this bill.Thank you.

It would wonderful if our IT team at the State Capitol could format this site to allow a user to separate thoughts by paragraph. :) And it would be easier for the public and the legislators to read.

Please vote no. Schools should not promote vaccines. These are medical decisions not school promotion topics. What is next? Mandatory weight loss for the "freshman 20 pounds"? Personal choice for health leave it out of the schools. Information is frequently distorted per the teacher delivering the information.

Please vote YES on HF 187.Any medical treatment discussions need to be between a family and their pediatrician. We shouldnt be giving Big Pharma free advertising in Iowa school systems. The HPV vaccine is not proven to be effective and has over 58,000 reports for injury and death on VAERS which according to a Harvard study only 1 percent of all injuries are reported. https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/hpvvaccinesafetyconcernspart1et/

HPVrelated cancer incidence is high in Iowa and impacts both men and women. We have a safe, effective vaccine that can prevent 90% of the 6 cancers caused by HPV including: cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, penile, and throat cancer. Adolescents need to have access to information about how to protect themselves from these cancers! This is about cancer prevention!HPV infections and cervical precancers have dropped since 2006, when HPV vaccines were first used in the United States. Among teen girls, infections with HPV types that cause most HPV cancers and genital warts have dropped 88 percent. Among young adult women, infections with HPV types that cause most HPV cancers and genital warts have dropped 81 percent. Among vaccinated women, the percentage of cervical precancers caused by the HPV types most often linked to cervical cancer has dropped by 40 percent.Keep HPV vaccine information as a requirement and prevent cancer!

Conversations about medical procedures and vaccines belong with a parent and the childs dr. Not in a class room.

Please vote YES on HF187. Discussions on liability free vaccines does NOT belong in our schools. This is a decision for the parents to make with their medical provider of choice for their children. Not a random teacher or nurse, etc. Schools need to stick to academic education & leave the medical care/decisions to the parents.
