JOURNAL OF THE HOUSE

The House met pursuant to adjournment at 1:00 p.m., Speaker
Rants in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Daniel Phillip, pastor of Christian
Fellowship Baptist Church, Waterloo. He was the guest of
Representative Deborah Berry of Black Hawk County.
The Journal of Friday, March 21, 2003 was approved.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by fifth grade students from
Anson, accompanied by their teacher, Meg Sponseller. They were the
guests of Representative Mark Smith of Marshall County. The
National Anthem was sung by Joni Carroll, the daughter of Speaker
pro tempore Carroll of Poweshiek County.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Leave of absence was granted as follows:
Freeman of Buena Vista on request of Gipp of Winneshiek.
ADOPTION OF HOUSE RESOLUTION 39
Gipp of Winneshiek asked and received unanimous consent for
the immediate consideration of House Resolution 39, a resolution
in support of the men and women serving in the United States Armed
Forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lukan of Dubuque moved its
adoption.
The motion prevailed and the resolution was adopted.
The House stood at ease at 1:09 p.m., until the fall of the gavel.
