The House met pursuant to adjournment at 8:45 a.m., Speaker pro
tempore Sukup in the chair.

Prayer was offered by Reverend Bob Davies, pastor of St. Edward
Catholic Church, Waterloo.

The Journal of Wednesday, January 31, 2001 was approved.

INTRODUCTION OF BILLS

House Joint Resolution 5, by Metcalf, Raecker, Sievers,
Hansen, Jacobs, Boal, Grundberg, Van Fossen, Hoversten, Bukta,
Atteberry, Mascher, Hatch, Foege, Falck, Witt, Petersen, Huser, May,
Ford, Chiodo, Tyrrell, Finch, Barry, and Gipp, a joint resolution to
nullify an administrative rule of the department of revenue and
finance relating to the collection of a fee to recover direct costs in the
administration of a local option sales and services tax and providing
an effective date.

Read first time and referred to committee on state government.

House File 157, by Schrader, Mertz, Witt, Ford, Dotzler, Murphy,
Hatch, Larkin, Foege, Cohoon, Mascher, Lensing, and Osterhaus, a
bill for an act relating to the appointment of a consumer advocate on
insurance.

House File 158, by Foege, Huser, Greimann, Lensing, Winckler,
Falck, Larkin, Cohoon, May, Bell, Chiodo, Stevens, O'Brien, Frevert,
Kreiman, Kuhn, Tremmel, and Jochum, a bill for an act relating to
proper methods of chemical management, establishing the
comprehensive safe chemical management in schools program, and
making an appropriation.
