1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 481A.127 DEER ANTLER
1 2 REGISTRATION – ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
1 3 A deer antler advisory committee is created within the
1 4 department. The advisory committee shall consist of five
1 5 members appointed by the director who shall serve at the
1 6 pleasure of the director. The advisory committee shall
1 7 organize at the call of the director and shall meet as
1 8 necessary to carry out committee duties. The advisory
1 9 committee members are eligible for per diem compensation
1 10 pursuant to section 7E.6 and shall be reimbursed for actual
1 11 expenses incurred while engaged in their official duties.
1 12 The deer antler advisory committee shall have access to all
1 13 state deer antler inventory. The advisory committee shall
1 14 make policy recommendations to the commission relating to the
1 15 eligibility of deer antlers for registration and other related
1 16 matters.
1 17 All eligible deer antlers shall be registered with the
1 18 Boone and Crockett registry or another registry designated by
1 19 the commission.
1 20 EXPLANATION
1 21 This bill provides for the creation of a deer advisory
1 22 committee within the department of natural resources. The
1 23 advisory committee shall have five members appointed by the
1 24 director of the department of natural resources. The advisory
1 25 committee members are eligible for per diem compensation
1 26 subject to income guidelines in Code section 7E.6 and shall be
1 27 reimbursed for actual expenses incurred while engaged in their
1 28 official duties.
1 29 The advisory committee shall serve at the pleasure of the
1 30 director. The advisory committee shall organize at the call
1 31 of the director and shall meet as necessary to carry out its
1 32 duties.
1 33 The deer antler advisory committee shall have access to all
1 34 state deer antler inventory. The advisory committee shall
1 35 make policy recommendations to the natural resource commission
2 1 relating to criteria for registering deer antlers and other
2 2 related matters.
2 3 The bill also provides that all eligible deer antlers shall
2 4 be registered with the Boone and Crockett registry or another
2 5 registry designated by the commission.
