QUORUM CALL
A non-record roll call was requested to determine that a quorum
was present. The vote revealed sixty-five members present, thirty-
five absent.
CONSIDERATION OF BILLS
Regular Calendar
House File 2280, a bill for an act requiring the director of the
department of education to develop and administer an operation
recognition program, was taken up for consideration.
Shey of Linn offered the following amendment H-8110 filed by him
and moved its adoption:
H-8110
1 Amend House File 2280 as follows:
2 1. Page 1, by striking lines 9 through 14 and
3 inserting the following: "commission shall jointly
4 develop an application procedure, distribute
5 applications, and publicize the program to school
6 districts, accredited nonpublic schools, county
7 commissions of veterans affairs, veterans
8 organizations, and state, regional, and local media.
9 All honorably".
10 2. Page 1, line 19, by striking the word "The".
11 3. Page 1, by striking lines 20 through 30 and
12 inserting the following: "Upon approval of an
13 application, the department shall issue an honorary
14 high school diploma for an eligible veteran. The
15 diploma shall indicate the veteran's school of
16 attendance. The department and the commission shall
17 work together to provide school districts, schools,
18 communities, and county commissions of veterans
19 affairs with information about hosting a diploma
20 ceremony on or around Veterans Day. The diploma shall
21 be mailed to the veteran or, if the veteran is
22 deceased, to the veteran's family."
Amendment H-8110 was adopted.
Shey of Linn moved that the bill be read a last time now and
placed upon its passage which motion prevailed and the bill was read
a last time.
