The following petition was received and placed on file:
By T. Taylor of Linn, from fifty-one Taylor elementary students
favoring the Governor and the Department of Natural Resources
proposals to place a moratorium on new and expanded large scale
animal confinements in Iowa until we know exactly what is in our
waterways and how we can protect them for the future.
ADOPTION OF HOUSE RESOLUTION 110
Connors of Polk called up for consideration House Resolution 110,
a resolution honoring pianist Roger Williams, and moved its adoption.
The motion prevailed and the resolution was adopted.
SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
Connors of Polk introduced to the House the world renown pianist
Roger Williams. Mr. Williams grew up in Des Moines and is best
known by his recording of "Autumn Leaves", which continues to stand
as the greatest selling piano recording of all time. Mr. Williams
briefly addressed and performed five of his favorite songs for the
House.
The House rose and expressed its appreciation.
Sunderbruch of Scott introduced to the House, Miss Iowa, Jennifer
Caudle of Davenport. She briefly addressed the House regarding her
interest in the potential for students in music and the arts.
The House rose and expressed its welcome.
On motion by Jacobs of Polk, the House was recessed at 1:35 p.m.,
until 3:30 p.m.
AFTERNOON SESSION
The House reconvened at 3:33 p.m., Carroll of Poweshiek in the
chair.
