1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY FORD AND JACOBS
1 3 A House Resolution congratulating the Des Moines Dragons
1 4 International Basketball Association Basketball Team.
1 5 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are greatly pleased
1 6 and justly proud that the Des Moines Dragons won their
1 7 first-ever Championship Final, winning the
1 8 championship title in their third year of existence as
1 9 a team; and
1 10 WHEREAS, the Des Moines Dragons have set single-
1 11 game attendance and season attendance records for the
1 12 league for three years running, and were chosen by the
1 13 league as Organization of the Year for each of the
1 14 three years they have been a member of the
1 15 International Basketball Association; and
1 16 WHEREAS, the Des Moines Dragons entered postseason
1 17 competition for the second year in a row, and this
1 18 season won the East Division title, and advancing to
1 19 and winning the Championship Final of the
1 20 International Basketball Association; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Head Coach Glenn Duhon has masterfully
1 22 brought talent and hard work into focus to provide
1 23 players in this developmental league with every
1 24 opportunity to improve their skills, and in so doing,
1 25 has presented basketball fans in the state with a
1 26 competitive, successful team, providing them access to
1 27 the fast-paced and exciting game of semiprofessional
1 28 basketball; and
1 29 WHEREAS, the Des Moines Dragons also embody a
1 30 spirit of community, in that they have provided
2 1 internship opportunities for students, presented
2 2 community performers with an opportunity to perform as
2 3 half-time entertainment during home games, and have
2 4 given away over 11,000 free tickets to families,
2 5 youth, and community groups; and
2 6 WHEREAS, the Des Moines Dragons, Coach Glenn Duhon,
2 7 and the coaching staff have thrilled and delighted
2 8 Iowans with their hard work, teamwork, and well-earned
2 9 victories; NOW THEREFORE,
2 10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 11 That the House of Representatives congratulates Coach
2 12 Glenn Duhon and the Des Moines Dragons on their
2 13 championship season, thanks them for the honor they
2 14 have brought to the State of Iowa and for the
2 15 excitement and entertainment they have provided to the
2 16 basketball fans of the state, and wish them good luck
2 17 in the future.
