  1 13 A Resolution honoring Kayne Robinson, Chairman of the
  1 14    Republican Party of Iowa, and the Republican Party
  1 15    of Iowa for outstanding achievements in bringing
  1 16    about nationwide recognition for the year 2000
  1 17    presidential precinct caucuses.
  1 18    WHEREAS, every two years the major political
  1 19 parties in the State of Iowa hold precinct caucuses to
  1 20 select delegates from each major political party to
  1 21 attend the county conventions; and
  1 22    WHEREAS, since 1976, the precinct caucuses held in
  1 23 presidential election years by the two major political
  1 24 parties have been used for determining support for
  1 25 presidential candidates and have served as our
  1 26 nation's first important test of the presidential
  1 27 candidates; and
  1 28    WHEREAS, the Iowa voters are civic-minded citizens
  1 29 who take their caucus responsibilities seriously; and
  1 30    WHEREAS, the presidential precinct caucuses held in
  2  1 the year 2000 benefited Iowa's economy by bringing
  2  2 thousands of volunteers to the state for several
  2  3 months, by serving as a base for national media and
  2  4 for nationally telecast news and interview shows, and
  2  5 by showcasing Iowa to citizens throughout the world;
  2  6 and
  2  7    WHEREAS, Kayne Robinson, Chairman of the Republican
  2  8 Party of Iowa, ably served as a spokesperson for the
  2  9 Republican Party of Iowa during the caucuses and
  2 10 effectively coordinated the caucus activities for the
  2 11 Republican Party of Iowa; and
  2 12    WHEREAS, Kayne Robinson coordinated the efforts of
  2 13 thousands of Republican Party activists as the
  2 14 Republican Party of Iowa successfully hosted 2,134
  2 15 precinct causes; NOW THEREFORE,
  2 16    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2 17 That the House of Representatives extends its
  2 18 heartiest congratulations to Kayne Robinson, Chairman
  2 19 of the Republican Party of Iowa, and to the Republican
  2 20 Party of Iowa, for their outstanding achievements in
  2 21 bringing about nationwide recognition for the year
  2 22 2000 presidential precinct caucuses; and
  2 23    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
  2 24 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Chairman
  2 25 Robinson.
