  1  5        GRUNDBERG, HOLVECK, HUSER, RAECKER, FORD, 
  1  6                    CONNORS, and BOAL
  1  7 A House Resolution honoring native Iowan and St. Louis
  1  8    Rams quarterback Kurt Warner.
  1  9    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner, born in Burlington, Iowa, and
  1 10 raised in the Cedar Rapids area, is a graduate of
  1 11 Cedar Rapids Regis High School; and
  1 12    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner attended college at the
  1 13 University of Northern Iowa and earned Gateway
  1 14 Conference offensive player of the year honors as a
  1 15 senior quarterback for the Panther football team; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner, as a quarterback for the Iowa
  1 17 Barnstormers (1995-1997), led the team to the Arena
  1 18 Bowl for two straight years and set all of the
  1 19 Barnstormers' individual passing records; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner, after a stint with the
  1 21 Amsterdam Admirals in Europe and a year as the St.
  1 22 Louis Rams' third-string quarterback, emerged as a
  1 23 starter for the Rams this season; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner threw 41 touchdown passes
  1 25 during the National Football League regular season,
  1 26 making him one of only two quarterbacks in league
  1 27 history to throw 40 or more touchdown passes in one
  1 28 season; and
  1 29    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner was selected to be a starter
  1 30 in the National Football League's 2000 Pro Bowl game;
  2  1 and
  2  2    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner became the first Iowan to be
  2  3 named most valuable player in the National Football
  2  4 League; and
  2  5    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner played a key role in guiding
  2  6 the St. Louis Rams to a division championship, the
  2  7 National Football Conference championship, and the
  2  8 National Football League championship; and
  2  9    WHEREAS, Kurt Warner threw for a championship-game-
  2 10 record 414 passing yards and was named the game's most
  2 11 valuable player in the St. Louis Rams' victory in
  2 12 Super Bowl XXXIV; and
  2 13    WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are extremely proud
  2 14 of Kurt Warner and admire his perseverance in
  2 15 achieving success, his professionalism and integrity
  2 16 in the media spotlight, and his commitment to faith
  2 17 and family; NOW THEREFORE,
  2 18    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2 19 That Kurt Warner be congratulated for his outstanding
  2 20 accomplishments and be thanked for the excitement and
  2 21 inspiration he has brought to the citizens of the
  2 22 State of Iowa.
