1 1 That the Secretary of State is directed to place on the
1 2 ballot of a special election to be held Tuesday, June 29,
1 3 1999, if such a special election is held on that date, three
1 4 possible state mottoes submitted by the Governor, requesting
1 5 the voters to choose one. The results of this election shall
1 6 be nonbinding on the General Assembly.
1 7 This Joint Resolution, being deemed of immediate
1 8 importance, takes effect upon enactment.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This joint resolution directs the Secretary of State to
1 11 place on the ballot of the special election to be held on June
1 12 29, 1999, a choice of three possible state mottoes, asking
1 13 each voter to choose one as the next state motto. The results
1 14 of the election are nonbinding.
1 15 The joint resolution is effective upon enactment, which in
1 16 the case of this joint resolution is the date of approval by
1 17 the governor.
