1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 272.9B PERMANENT SUBSTITUTE
1 2 TEACHER LICENSURE.
1 3 The board of educational examiners shall adopt rules that
1 4 provide for the issuance of a permanent substitute teacher
1 5 license to persons who retire from a school district or
1 6 accredited nonpublic school while holding a valid
1 7 practitioner's license.
1 8 Sec. 2. APPLICATIONS. A person who retired from a school
1 9 district or accredited nonpublic school located in Iowa while
1 10 holding a valid practitioner's license prior to July 1, 2000,
1 11 shall have until July 1, 2001, to apply to the board for a
1 12 permanent substitute teacher license.
1 13 Sec. 3. EMERGENCY RULES. The board of educational
1 14 examiners may adopt emergency rules under section 17A.4,
1 15 subsection 2, and section 17A.5, subsection 2, paragraph "b",
1 16 to implement the provisions of this Act and the rules shall be
1 17 effective immediately upon filing unless a later date is
1 18 specified in the rules. Any rules adopted in accordance with
1 19 this section shall also be published as a notice of intended
1 20 action as provided in section 17A.4.
1 21 Sec. 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 22 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
