  1  1    Amend House File 2506 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 6 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 372.14, subsection 1, Code
  1  5 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1  6    1.  The mayor is the chief executive officer of the
  1  7 city and presiding officer of the council.  However,
  1  8 the mayor shall not appoint, employ, or discharge
  1  9 officers or employees without the approval of the
  1 10 council.  Except for the supervisory duties which have
  1 11 been delegated by law to a city manager, the mayor
  1 12 shall supervise all city officers and departments."
