1 1 Amend House File 686 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 2, by striking lines 9 through 33 and
1 3 inserting the following:
1 4 "1. Individuals employed as a dental assistant as
1 5 of July 1, 2000, shall be registered with the board
1 6 and receive a certificate of registration.
1 7 2. Individuals employed as a dental assistant
1 8 after July 1, 2000, shall be granted a conditional
1 9 registration by the board within a sixty-day period
1 10 following their first date of employment. A person
1 11 employed as a dental assistant after July 1, 2000,
1 12 shall, within a six-month period, complete education
1 13 and examination requirements as determined by the
1 14 board. Upon successful completion, the person shall
1 15 be registered with the board. Education requirements
1 16 shall be determined by the board, by rule, and may be
1 17 satisfied either through a formal series of classes or
1 18 through job equivalency training, according to
1 19 standards to be determined by the board. The
1 20 education requirements shall include possession of a
1 21 valid certificate from a nationally recognized course
1 22 in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Successful passage
1 23 of an examination administered by the board, which
1 24 shall include sections regarding infection control,
1 25 hazardous materials, and jurisprudence, shall also be
1 26 required.
1 27 3. The board shall establish continuing education
1 28 requirements as a condition of renewing registration
1 29 as a registered dental assistant, as well as standards
1 30 for the suspension or revocation of registration."
