  House File 2282

  On motion of Senator Redwine, House File 2282, a bill for an act
  authorizing the imposition of a local option sales and services tax and
  use of certain federal funds for school infrastructure projects and the
  issuance of bonds, and providing an effective date, with report of
  committee recommending passage, was taken up for consideration.

  Senator Douglas asked and received unanimous consent to
  withdraw amendment S-5458, filed by her on April 1, 1998, to pages
  1, 3, 4, and 6 of the bill.

  Senator King asked and received unanimous consent that action
  on House File 2282 be deferred.

  UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  House File 2335

  On motion of Senator Rensink, House File 2335, a bill for an act
  relating to persons holding interests in agricultural land and
  providing penalties and an effective date, with report of committee
  recommending amendment and passage, placed on the Unfinished
  Business Calendar on March 26, 1998, was taken up for consideration.

  Senator Vilsack offered amendment S-5558, filed by Senators
  Vilsack and McLaren from the floor to pages 1-10, 12, 14, and 15 of
  the bill, and moved its adoption.

  Amendment S-5558 was adopted by a voice vote.

  With the adoption of amendment S-5558, the Chair ruled the
  following amendments out of order:

  S-5420 filed by Senator Rensink on March 30, 1998, to pages 1-3
  and 9 of the bill;

  S-5282 by the committee on Agriculture to pages 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10,
  and 14 of the bill;
