  The Senate met in regular session at 1:10 p.m., President Kramer
  presiding.

  Prayer was offered by the Reverend Mike Hovda, pastor of the
  Fellowship Bible Church, Oskaloosa, Iowa

  The Journal of Thursday, March 6, 1997, was approved.

  INTRODUCTION OF BILLS

  Senate File 357, by committee on State Government, a bill for an
  act relating to the regulation of amusement devices and casino-type
  gambling and subjecting violators to an existing penalty.

  Read first time and placed on calendar.

  Senate File 358, by committee on State Government, a bill for an
  act relating to the adoption of the interstate emergency management
  assistance compact.

  Read first time and placed on calendar.

  Senate File 359, by committee on State Government, a bill for an
  act relating to the qualifications for the director of the department of
  corrections.

  Read first time and placed on calendar.

  Senate File 360, by committee on Commerce, a bill for an act
  authorizing the utilities board to issue certificates of public
  convenience and necessity to municipal telecommunications
  utilities,
