1 1 Section 1. Section 15A.1, Code 1997, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 4. A state agency shall not provide a
1 4 grant, loan, or other financial assistance to a private person
1 5 or on behalf of a private person for economic development when
1 6 wage levels are one criteria considered in determining whether
1 7 assistance is given, unless a wage level equal to or greater
1 8 than one hundred one percent of the average county wage or
1 9 twice the amount of the minimum wage is required by the
1 10 criteria.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill prohibits any state agency from providing
1 13 economic development assistance when wage levels are one
1 14 criteria considered unless a wage level equal to or greater
1 15 than 101 percent of the average county wage or twice the
1 16 amount of the minimum wage is required by the criteria.
