  1  1    Amend the amendment, H-1866, to Senate File 549, as
  1  2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 7, by striking lines 5 through 20 and
  1  5 inserting the following:
  1  6    "NEW SUBSECTION.  30.  Calculate, every two years,
  1  7 the average cost of an Iowa resident student's
  1  8 education at an institution of higher learning under
  1  9 the control of the board and shall also calculate the
  1 10 average amount by which state moneys subsidize the
  1 11 average state resident student's tuition costs.  The
  1 12 board shall cause to be prominently printed on all
  1 13 statements of account for payment of tuition and fees
  1 14 issued by each institution of higher learning under
  1 15 the control of the board the portion of the average
  1 16 cost of a resident student's education at a state
  1 17 university that is paid by tuition and fees, and the
  1 18 amount paid by appropriations from the general fund of
  1 19 the state.  The information, rounded to the nearest
  1 20 one-tenth of one percent and the nearest whole dollar,
  1 21 shall be included in the following statement:
  1 22    "Tuition pays for approximately ____% of the
  1 23 average cost for a resident Iowa student at a state
  1 24 university.  The state of Iowa pays approximately
  1 25 $____ of the average cost for a full-time state
  1 26 resident student at a state university."""
  1 27    #2.  Page 8, line 14, by inserting after the word
  1 28 "enactment" the following:  "and apply to statements
  1 29 of account issued after January 1, 1998".
  1 30    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
