                    Des Moines, Iowa, Tuesday, March 26, 1996



         The Senate met in regular session at 9:06 a.m., President Boswell
    presiding.

         Prayer was offered by the Reverend Myron Albertson, pastor of the
    St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Odebolt, Iowa.

         The Journal of Monday, March 25, 1996, was approved.



                                LEAVES OF ABSENCE

         Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

         Senator Bisignano until he arrives on request of Senator Vilsack
    and Senator Dvorsky until he arrives on request of Senator Horn.



                                   QUORUM CALL

         Senator Horn requested a non record roll call to determine that a
    quorum was present.

         The vote revealed 44 present, 6 absent and a quorum present.



                          UNFINISHED BUSINESS CALENDAR

    Senate Concurrent Resolution 112

         On motion of Senator Gettings, Senate Concurrent Resolution 112, a
    concurrent resolution supporting the 185th Fighter Wing of the Air
    National Guard of Iowa in its peacekeeping patrols in the United Nations
    No-Fly Zone over Iraq, with report of committee recommending passage and
    placed on the Unfinished Business Calendar on March 21, 1996, was taken
    up for consideration.
