         Senator Kibbie from 265 residents of Clay, Emmet and Dickinson
    Counties opposing legislation which would restrict Iowa utilities from
    offering nonutility services.



                            PRESENTATION OF VISITORS

         Senator Borlaug welcomed the Honorable Jim Nussle, member of the
    U.S. House of Representatives from Iowas second district, who was
    present in the Senate chamber.

         The Chair welcomed the following visitors who were present in the
    Senate gallery:

         Sixty eighth grade students from Urbandale Middle School,
    Urbandale, accompanied by Mrs. Lauri Raker, Ms. Susie Myron and Ms. Lisa
    Langen. Senator Maddox.



                          BILLS SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR

         A communication was received announcing that on March 21, 1996, the
    Governor approved and transmitted to the Secretary of State the
    following bill:

         SENATE FILE 2135 - Providing for the organization of cooperative
    corporations, providing for fees, and providing for penalties.

         ALSO:
         A communication was received announcing that on March 22, 1996, the
    Governor approved and transmitted to the Secretary of State the
    following bill:

         SENATE FILE 13 - Relating to the establishment of a prospective
    minor parents decision-making assistance program, providing penalties,
    providing a repeal, and providing effective dates.

         ALSO:
         A communication was received announcing that on March 25, 1996, the
    Governor approved and transmitted to the Secretary of State the
    following bill:

         SENATE FILE 376 - Relating to the regulation of credit unions by
    authorizing additional powers and defining certain business
    relationships and establishing a penalty.
