         The Senate resumed consideration of Senate File 2247, a bill for an
    act relating to unemployment insurance benefits by providing for
    employer contributions and liability for benefits regarding successor
    employers, deferred March 5, 1996.

         Senator Gettings asked and received unanimous consent that House
    File 2229 be substituted for Senate File 2247.

    House File 2229

         On motion of Senator Gettings, House File 2229, a bill for an act
    relating to unemployment insurance benefits by providing for employer
    contributions and liability for benefits regarding successor employers,
    was taken up for consideration.

         Senator Kramer asked and received unanimous consent that action  on
    House File 2229 be deferred.

    Senate File 2442

         On motion of Senator Hammond, Senate File 2442, a bill for  an act
    relating to appropriations for the department of human services and the
    prevention of disabilities policy council and including other provisions
    and appropriations involving human services and health care and
    providing for effective and applicability dates, was taken up for
    consideration.

         The Senate stood at ease at 9:42 a.m. until the fall of the gavel
    for the purpose of a party caucus.
