         The Senate met in regular session at 9:07 a.m., President Boswell
    presiding.

         Prayer was offered by the Reverend Suzanne Peterson, of the
    Episcopal Diocese, of Des Moines, Iowa.

         The Journal of Tuesday, February 27, 1996, was approved.

                              INTRODUCTION OF BILL

         Senate File 2342, by Borlaug, a bill for  an act providing
    compensation in the event of a victims death, for reasonable charges
    incurred for health-related care needed as a direct result of the death.

         Read first time and passed on file.
