         The Senate met in regular session at 1:20 p.m., President Boswell
    presiding.

         Prayer was offered by the Reverend Jack Gray, pastor of the Calvary
    Christian Reformed Church, Orange City, Iowa.

         The Journal of Thursday, January 18, 1996, was approved.



                                LEAVES OF ABSENCE

         Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

         Senator Tinsman for the day on request of Senator Bennett; Senator
    Dvorsky for the day on request of Senator Hammond and Senator Kramer for
    the day on request of Senator Borlaug.



                              INTRODUCTION OF BILLS

         Senate File 2064, by Boswell, a bill for  an act relating to the
    authority of counties to establish revitalization areas and to issue
    revenue bonds for such areas.

         Read first time and passed on file.

         Senate File 2065, by Boswell, a bill for  an act authorizing the
    establishment of enterprise zones.

         Read first time and passed on file.

         Senate File 2066, by committee on Judiciary, a bill for an act
    relating to assisted suicide and providing criminal penalties.

         Read first time and placed on calendar.
