Amendment H-5558 lost. Gipp of Winneshiek asked and received unanimous consent that Senate File 2442 be deferred. (The committee amendment H-5478 pending) On motion by Gipp of Winneshiek, the House was recessed at 12:07 p.m., until 1:00 p.m. AFTERNOON SESSION The House reconvened at 1:00 p.m., Speaker Corbett in the chair. QUORUM CALL A non-record roll call was requested to determine that a quorum was present. The vote revealed seventy-two members present, twenty-eight absent. MESSAGES FROM THE SENATE The following messages were received from the Senate: Mr. Speaker: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the Senate has on March 26, 1996, adopted the following resolution in which the concurrence of the Senate was asked: House Joint Resolution 11, a joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa to eliminate the limitation on fines for offenses which may be summarily tried without indictment. Also: That the Senate has on March 26, 1996, amended and passed the following bill in which the concurrence of the House is asked: House File 334, a bill for an act relating to the hearing and election provisions of the instructional support program of school districts. Also: That the Senate has on March 26, 1996, passed the following bill in which the concurrence of the Senate was asked: House File 2165, a bill for an act relating to industrial machinery, computers and equipment for purposes of sales taxation and property taxation and providing an effective date and applicability date. Also: That the Senate has on March 26, 1996, passed the following bill in which the concurrence of the Senate was asked: House File 2202, a bill for an act relating to permissible acts related to real estate sales, exchanges, purchases, rentals, leases, or advertising by licensees and nonlicensees. Also: That the Senate has on March 26, 1996, passed the following bill in which the concurrence of the Senate was asked: House File 2207, a bill for an act relating to the state transportation commission's planning process and federal funding.
