         The appointee not having received a two-thirds vote, the Chair
    declared the Senate refused to confirm the appointment of Robert F.
    Baur.



                              DEFERRAL OF APPOINTEE

                       (Individual Confirmation Calendar)

         Senator Dvorsky called up the appointment of Harold M. Thompson as
    Executive Director of the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology
    Commission, placed on the Individual Confirmation Calendar on March 30,
    1995, without recommendation, and found on page 976 of the Senate
    Journal.

         (Action on the appointment of Harold M. Thompson was deferred.)



                                     RECESS

         On motion of Senator Horn, the Senate recessed at 12:28 p.m., until
    1:30 p.m.
