CONSIDERATION OF BILL
(Appropriations Calendar)
Senate File 266
On motion of Senator Kibbie, Senate File 266, a bill for an act
relating to the funding of, operation of, and appropriation of moneys to
agencies, institutions, commissions, departments, and boards responsible
for education and cultural programs of this state, and providing an
effective date, was taken up for consideration.
(Action on Senate File 266 was deferred).
SPECIAL GUEST
Senator Black introduced Roy Y. Y. Wu, Director General, Taipei
Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago. Mr. Wu addressed the Senate
with brief remarks, remembering his last visit when he presented a check
from Taiwan for the flood relief program.
Mr. Wus office has been instrumental in four procurement programs
which have purchased over $100 million in United States agriculture
products. There are currently 700 students from Taiwan attending United
States colleges and universities.
The Senate stood at ease at 1:50 p.m. until the fall of the gavel
for the purpose of a party caucus.
The Senate resumed session at 2:45 p.m., President pro tempore
Bisignano presiding.

QUORUM CALL
Senator Horn requested a non record roll call to determine that a
quorum was present.
The vote revealed 39 present, 11 absent and a quorum present.
