         The Senate met in regular session at 9:05 a.m., President Boswell
    presiding.

         Prayer was offered by Father Raymond Higgins, pastor of St.
    Anthonys Church, Des Moines, Iowa.

         The Journal of Monday, January 23, 1995, was approved.



                              INTRODUCTION OF BILL

         Senate File 54, by Priebe, a bill for an act relating to the
    disclosure of marketing, advertising, and lobbying costs in hospital
    billing statements.

         Read first time and passed on file.



                              DISTINGUISHED VISITOR

         Senator Neuhauser presented Sumitra Gandhi Kulkarni, granddaughter
    and biographer of Mahatma Gandhi, who was a member of the Indian
    Parliament from 1972-1978, an elected member of the Congress
    Parliamentary Party Executive Committee, and a delegate from India to
    the United Nations General Assembly.

         Mrs. Kulkarni thanked the Senate for their hospitality during her
    visit.
