1 22 animal weight capacity of one million two hundred
1 23 fifty thousand or more pounds for animals other than
1 24 beef cattle, or three million two hundred thousand or
1 25 more pounds for beef cattle, shall only use a
1 26 confinement feeding operation, which, to every extent
1 27 practicable, incorporates generally accepted methods
1 28 and techniques for the treatment and stabilization of
1 29 sewage originating from human populations, according
1 30 to rules adopted by the department. The type and
1 31 degree of treatment technology required to be
1 32 installed shall be based on the size of the
1 33 confinement feeding operation. The rules shall
1 34 require that a confinement feeding operation subject
1 35 to this subsection, and constructed on or after the
1 36 effective date of this Act, be required to install a
1 37 treatment system employing bacterial action which is
1 38 maintained by the utilization of air or oxygen, and
1 39 which shall include aeration equipment. The equipment
1 40 shall be installed, operated, and maintained in
1 41 accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and
1 42 the requirements of rules adopted pursuant to this
1 43 subsection. This subsection shall not apply to a
1 44 confinement feeding operation which stores manure as
1 45 dry matter, or to an egg washwater storage
1 46 structure.""
