Prayer was offered by Reverend Mick Schultz, pastor of the New
Covenant Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. He was the guest of
Representative Kraig Paulsen from Linn County.
The Journal of Monday, February 24, 2003 was approved.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 285, by Heaton, a bill for an act establishing an
income tax deduction for certain volunteer emergency medical
services providers and volunteer fire fighters and providing a
retroactive applicability date.
Read first time and referred to committee on ways and means.
House File 286, by Shoultz, a bill for an act providing for the
licensure of individuals to perform press and curl hair straightening
procedures and making a penalty applicable.
Read first time and referred to committee on state government.
House File 287, by Jochum, a bill for an act relating to the
regulation of wetlands, mitigation of adverse impacts to wetlands,
providing penalties and fees, and making an appropriation.
Read first time and referred to committee on natural resources.
House File 288, by Quirk, a bill for an act providing internet
access through the Iowa communications network for rural
communities meeting specified criteria.
Read first time and referred to committee on economic growth.
