The House met pursuant to adjournment at 8:48 a.m., Speaker

SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Prior to convening, Effie Burt of Waterloo sang "What A
Wonderful World", "Sweet Home Iowa", a song she wrote, and "I’ll
Make Me A Home In Iowa" before the House. She was the guest of
the Honorable Willard Jenkins, state representative of Black Hawk
County.
The House rose and expressed its welcome.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Bill Bernau, pastor of Grace
Lutheran Church, Adel, and former state representative from Story
County. He was the guest of Representative Dick Myers from
Johnson County.
The Journal of Wednesday, January 15, 2003 was approved.

the tax on social security benefits under the state individual income
tax and including a retroactive applicability date provision.
