The House met pursuant to adjournment at 9:28 a.m., Metcalf of
Polk in the chair.
Prayer was offered by the Honorable Janet Metcalf, state
representative from Polk County.
The Journal of Thursday, March 29, 2001 was approved.

The following petition was received and placed on file:
By Mascher of Johnson from seventy-nine Iowa City teachers from
District 46 opposing House Study Bill 201, the proposed teacher
compensation bill.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 707, by committee on ways and means, a bill for an
act establishing an interstate distribution center initiative by
identifying an activity of a foreign corporation for which a return is
not required for state income tax purposes and including effective and
retroactive applicability date provisions.
Read first time and placed on the ways and means calendar.
House File 708, by committee on ways and means, a bill for an
act establishing a small business growth initiative by adjusting the
allocation to Iowa of income earned by an S corporation for purposes
of the state individual income tax and including a retroactive
applicability date provision.
Read first time and placed on the ways and means calendar.
House File 709, by committee on ways and means, a bill for an
act relating to the growing and processing of grapes, creating a state
commission, establishing a fund for certain tax receipts, and
providing an appropriation.
Read first time and referred to committee on appropriations.
