1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 3 A Resolution honoring Senator Gene Maddox.
1 4 WHEREAS, Senator Gene Maddox is retiring from the
1 5 Senate to seek another elective office after
1 6 completing 10 years in office as a State Senator; and
1 7 WHEREAS, Senator Maddox's distinguished career as a
1 8 state legislator has included service as an Assistant
1 9 Majority Leader during the Seventy-seventh through
1 10 Seventy-ninth General Assemblies; and
1 11 WHEREAS, Senator Maddox's legislative career has
1 12 also included service as Chairperson of the Judiciary
1 13 Committee and of the Justice Systems Appropriations
1 14 Subcommittee; and as Vice Chairperson of the Commerce
1 15 Committee; and
1 16 WHEREAS, Senator Maddox has served on many other
1 17 standing committees throughout his years of
1 18 legislative service and has been an influential and
1 19 devoted legislator in this state; and
1 20 WHEREAS, Senator Maddox has been instrumental in
1 21 the passage of legislation pertinent to Iowa relating
1 22 to criminal and civil law and has been recognized as
1 23 an expert on local government issues; and
1 24 WHEREAS, Senator Maddox has served honorably and
1 25 has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
1 26 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
1 27 provide beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa;
1 28 NOW THEREFORE,
1 29 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
1 30 tribute to Senator Gene Maddox for his devoted service
2 1 to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens of this
2 2 state and wish him the very best in the years ahead;
2 3 and
2 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 5 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
2 6 Maddox.
