1 2 BY IVERSON, KRAMER, BOETTGER, and VEENSTRA
1 3 A Resolution declaring March 6, 2001, Marriage Day.
1 4 WHEREAS, marriage is a universal human institution
1 5 which is a bedrock of our society; and
1 6 WHEREAS, a healthy marriage improves the lives of
1 7 the parties by offering them emotional and financial
1 8 support; and
1 9 WHEREAS, a healthy marriage provides a nurturing
1 10 environment for children; and
1 11 WHEREAS, good marriages and strong families are
1 12 developed through a couple's commitment and hard work;
1 13 and
1 14 WHEREAS, couples are more likely to work toward
1 15 healthy marriages in a society that recognizes the
1 16 importance of and values marriage; NOW THEREFORE,
1 17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That March 6, 2001,
1 18 be declared Marriage Day to recognize the importance
1 19 of a healthy marriage.
