1 4 RELATING TO PERMITTED AND PROHIBITED OCCUPATIONS FOR
1 5 CERTAIN CHILD LABORERS INVOLVING MOTOR VEHICLE CLEANING,
1 6 WASHING, AND POLISHING, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

1 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 10 Section 1. Section 92.8, subsection 19, Code 2001, is
1 11 amended to read as follows:
1 12 19. Occupations involving exposure to lead fumes or its
1 13 compounds, or to dangerous or poisonous dyes or chemicals.
1 14 This subsection shall not be construed to include the use of
1 15 detergents, cleaners, and protectants in work involving motor
1 16 vehicle cleaning, washing, and polishing if the person
1 17 employed is provided with and uses personal protective
1 18 equipment as needed; and provided the person shall not be
1 19 employed or permitted to combine the chemicals which
1 20 constitute the detergents, cleaners, or protectants used to
1 21 wash, clean, or polish motor vehicles other than to dilute the
1 22 detergents, cleaners, and protectants with water. However,
1 23 use of a power washer, ladder, scaffold, or their substitutes
1 24 by a person employed in work involving motor vehicle cleaning,
1 25 washing, and polishing, who is fourteen or fifteen years of
1 26 age, is prohibited pursuant to section 92.6, or rules adopted
1 27 pursuant to section 92.6.
1 28 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 29 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
