1 1 Section 1. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE – PERSONAL NEEDS ALLOWANCE.
1 2 The department of human services shall adopt rules which
1 3 provide that the personal needs allowance under the medical
1 4 assistance program, which is retained by a resident of a
1 5 health care facility, is fifty dollars per month beginning
1 6 July 1, 2001, unless a greater amount is allowed under state
1 7 or federal law.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill directs the department of human services to adopt
1 10 rules to allow residents of health care facilities
1 11 participating in the medical assistance program to retain a
1 12 personal needs allowance of $50 per month beginning July 1,
1 13 2001, unless a greater amount is allowed to be retained under
1 14 state or federal law. The current personal needs allowance is
1 15 $30 per month.
