  1  4 RELATING TO THE RULES REGARDING THE AUTHENTICATION OF 
  1  5    PRACTITIONERS' MEDICATION AND STANDING ORDERS IN HOSPITALS 
  1  6    AND PROVIDING FOR A REPEAL.

  1  8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  9 
  1 10    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  135B.7A  PROCEDURES – ORDERS.
  1 11    The department shall adopt rules that require hospitals to
  1 12 establish procedures for authentication of medication and
  1 13 standing orders by a practitioner within a period not to
  1 14 exceed thirty days following a patient's discharge.
  1 15    Sec. 2.  Section 135B.7A is repealed June 30, 2007.
