1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 331.662 CONTRACTUAL UNIFORMED
1 2 LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES.
1 3 Upon request of a city, the county sheriff shall negotiate,
1 4 on behalf of the county, a contract to provide uniformed law
1 5 enforcement services for a city. The contract shall provide
1 6 for a per capita reimbursement to the county based on the
1 7 population of the city requesting the law enforcement
1 8 services. If the sheriff and a city fail to agree on a
1 9 contract, the county board of supervisors shall negotiate on
1 10 behalf of the county. Upon agreement, the sheriff shall
1 11 provide the contracted uniformed law enforcement services.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that, upon request of a city, the county
1 14 sheriff shall negotiate, on behalf of the county, a contract
1 15 to provide uniformed law enforcement services for a city. The
1 16 contract shall provide for a per capita reimbursement to the
1 17 county based on the population of the city requesting the law
1 18 enforcement services. If the sheriff and a city fail to agree
1 19 on a contract, the county board of supervisors shall negotiate
1 20 on behalf of the county. Upon agreement, the sheriff shall
1 21 provide the contract uniformed law enforcement services.
