  1  4 RELATING TO THE GRANTING OF ADDITIONAL CABLE TELEVISION
  1  5    FRANCHISES BY A CITY.  
  1  6 
  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 364.2, subsection 4, Code 2001, is
  1 10 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1 11    NEW PARAGRAPH.  g.  If a city grants more than one cable
  1 12 television franchise, the material terms and conditions of any
  1 13 additional franchise shall not give undue preference or
  1 14 advantage to the new franchisee.  A city shall not grant a new
  1 15 franchise that does not include the same territory as that of
  1 16 the existing franchise.  A new franchisee shall be given a
  1 17 reasonable period of time to build the new system throughout
  1 18 the territory.
