PAG LIN 1 1 Amend Senate File 2267 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 1, line 5, by striking the words "may 1 3 from time to time" and inserting the following: 1 4 "shall, beginning in the year 2002 and at least every 1 5 ten years thereafter,". 1 6 #2. Page 1, line 7, by inserting after the word 1 7 "composition" the following: "or the total number". 1 8 #3. Page 1, line 13, by inserting after the word 1 9 "districts," the following: "which may include 1 10 expanding or contracting the total number of judicial 1 11 districts,". 1 12 #4. Page 1, line 14, by striking the word 1 13 "January" and inserting the following: "November". 1 14 #5. Page 1, by striking lines 15 through 18 and 1 15 inserting the following: "judicial districts. The 1 16 legislative service bureau shall draft a bill 1 17 embodying the plan for submission by the supreme court 1 18 to the general assembly. The bill shall take effect 1 19 upon the general assembly passing legislation which is 1 20 approved by the governor including an effective date 1 21 for the reorganization of the judicial districts. The 1 22 general assembly shall bring the bill to a vote in 1 23 either the senate or the house of representatives 1 24 within thirty days of the bill's submission by the 1 25 supreme court to the general assembly, under a 1 26 procedure or rule permitting no amendments by either 1 27 house except those of a purely corrective nature. If 1 28 both houses pass the bill, the bill shall be presented 1 29 as any other bill to the governor for approval." 1 30 #6. Page 1, by inserting after line 23 the 1 31 following: 1 32 "4. It is the intent of the general assembly that 1 33 the supreme court prior to developing a plan pursuant 1 34 to this section consult with and receive input from 1 35 members of the general public, court employees, 1 36 judges, members of the general assembly, the eight 1 37 judicial departments of correctional services, county 1 38 officers, officials from other interested political 1 39 subdivisions, and attorneys. In submitting a plan 1 40 pursuant to this section, the supreme court shall also 1 41 submit to the general assembly a report stating the 1 42 reasons for developing the plan and describing in 1 43 detail the process used in developing the plan." 1 44 1 45 1 46 1 47 O.
