  1  1    Amend Senate File 2268 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, line 4, by striking the word "may" and
  1  3 inserting the following: "shall".
  1  4    #2.  Page 1, by striking lines 11 through 19 and
  1  5 inserting the following:
  1  6    "When such dog has been apprehended and impounded,
  1  7 the The local board of health or law enforcement
  1  8 official shall give provide written notice in not less
  1  9 than two days to the owner, if known the local board
  1 10 of health or law enforcement official can reasonably
  1 11 determine the owner's name and current address by
  1 12 accessing a tag or other device that is on or a part
  1 13 of the dog.  If The notice shall be sent within two
  1 14 days after the dog has been impounded.  The notice
  1 15 shall provide that if the owner does not redeem the
  1 16 dog within seven days of from the date of that the
  1 17 notice is delivered, the dog may be humanely destroyed
  1 18 or otherwise disposed of in accordance with law.  For
  1 19 purposes of this section, notice is delivered when the
  1 20 local board of health or law enforcement official
  1 21 mails the notice which may be by regular mail.  An
  1 22 owner may redeem a dog by having it".
