1 1 Section 1. Section 331.605, Code 2001, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 6A. A technology fee of five dollars for
1 4 each recorded transaction for which a fee is paid pursuant to
1 5 section 331.604. The technology fee shall be used exclusively
1 6 for the purpose of implementing the requirements of chapter
1 7 554D in the county.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill directs the county recorder to collect a
1 10 technology fee of $5 for each recorded transaction for which a
1 11 general recording and filing fee is collected. The technology
1 12 fee is imposed to pay the costs of establishing an electronic
1 13 transactions and recording system for the county pursuant to
1 14 the "Uniform Electronic Transaction Act" which was enacted by
1 15 the general assembly in 2000.
